  • Please ensure that ALL uniform (including shoes) is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
  • Please discuss your child’s timetable (in their diary) with them, so they are able to organise themselves with the correct uniform and equipment.
  • Please remember to check you child’s diary each evening for letters, updates and information.

The children have been learning new routines, finding out about each other and settling back into school. Writing, Spelling and Maths assessments have been completed and children have started work on their first unit of inquiry.

communication

People communicate in different ways and for different purposes

Lines of inquiry:

  • Non-verbal and verbal forms of communication
  • Why people communicate with each other
  • The reasons and impact for communicating in different ways

The children will be discussing different forms of communication. They will start by looking at different signs and symbols on their trip to the airport. The children will then discuss the meanings and designs and will create some of their own.

math

Central Idea

Place Value helps us represent and understand numbers

  • The value of numbers according to their place
  • The role of zero in the place value system

The children will learn to partition, and order, 3 and 4 digit numbers. They will continue to develop their knowledge of the different values of digits in a number and will be able to show their understanding in different ways.

The children all have Mathletics usernames and passwords in their diaries. Please have a go at logging on this weekend and completing some activities.

Children will be looking at the different features of a recount. This includes:

  • Creating a title
  • Using the past tense
  • Putting events in chronological order
  • Using time connectives

Children will look at a range of examples of different recounts and then practise writing some of their own.
