Hi Year 4. It is a little difficult to continue our current chair project while you are not at school so I thought instead we could look at some other structures related activities.

The first is a game where you have to build a bridge for a truck to drive over. It starts off quite easy but gets more challenging. I got to level 9 yesterday, let’s see how far you can get.

Bridge building game:

The next game is a tower building game. See if you can create strong structures to support your tower in each level.

And lastly, Constructore 2. Move, combine and manipulate objects to get the orange block where it needs to be.

You could also have a look at creating structures and buildings using TinkerCAD.com . This was a tool we used in Year 3 for making 3D printed robots and also some of you used it for chair designs. Why not log in to TinkerCAD.com and see if you can create an interesting structure or building.

Movement Composition – Gymnastics

So far, in our unit we have covered – making a structure with a partner, pyramids and balance. Use google images and search for examples of ‘counter balance in gymnastics’. Try some of the counter balances with a partner ( a friend, sibling, helper, parent, cousin, grandparent!). Take a photo of your counter balance and send it to me timothy.teahan@bhs.edu.hk  Research what you need to do when you are counter balancing and explain the key skills when counter balancing. Email me the photo and explanation at the same time.

You can also counter balance by yourself using a wall, table, chair, etc. Take a photo of you trying to counter balance using an object. Once again explain the key skills needed when counter balancing. Email me a photo of your counter balance and the explanation.

Games – Rugby

With a partner ( a friend, sibling, helper, parent, cousin, grandparent!) practise the skill of passing a rugby ball. If you don’t have a rugby ball any ball shape will do. For extra skill try and learn the spin (or spiral) pass. These two videos will help –

These next two weeks are a wonderful opportunity for you to tighten up your ukulele technique, revise “Lily the Pink” and “Coming Round the Mountain” and learn some new songs from your ukulele booklet.

Revise the chord shapes for: C, G7, F and C7. Play through “This Old Man” and “London Bridge”.

Aim to practise for 30 minutes each day. See if you can find someone else to sing along with!

If you worry about how to tune your ukulele you may consider getting an iPhone or iPad app called Tunefor Ukulele. It’s a free app and is easy to use. It’s available from the App Store.
