Year 6 Graduation
Thursday 28th June
Our Year 6 Graduation will be held on Thursday 28th June, more details will be sent to you in the next few weeks, but in the meantime please be thinking about what your child might wear for this very special event. It is an important event in the children’s school life and therefore we expect them to wear smart/semi-formal event clothing for the ceremony.
Boys – suits, shirt and tie (at the very least) or traditional clothing, dress shoes

Girls – party dresses or traditional clothing, party shoes

Healthy Living at BHS
We promote healthy living at BHS and therefore children should only bring water to school. Please do not send milk drinks, sugary drinks or any other kind of drink. We have water fountains and taps where students can refill their (BHS) water bottles throughout the day.

The children have been working very hard learning lines and songs for their upcoming production of Bugsy Malone. We recommend that the children spend time at home reading the script and rehearsing their roles.

We have been auditioning for the cast of our up and coming production of Bugsy Malone. The children have had fun singing the songs from the play and are excited to dive deeper into the performance.

For the remainder of the year, all maths lessons will be held in the children’s usual classes.  Most of the maths that will be taking place will all be revision. Some stand-alone units will be taking place outside of Production time and these topics include finishing off our fractions and decimals unit, probability, location, angles and time.

the ways in which we represent patterns

– exponential notation and repeated products

– sequences involving whole numbers, fractions and decimals

algebraic expressions to record the rules for pattern

Central Idea

Conversions of units and measurements allow us to make sense of the world we live in. A range of procedures exists to measure different attributes of objects and events.

Lines of Inquiry

Estimate, compare and measure objects using standard units of measurement

Calculate and develop rules for determining the volume of cubes and cuboids.

Identify and describe the relationships between area and volume and between volume and capacity.

We have been consolidating our knowledge of lots of different number concepts to solve problems. This has included logic and reasoning, duration and converting time. Year 6 have also started to share their thinking when solving sums that involve brackets and a multiple of operations. This has stretched our thinking and allowed us to look at pattern and function within number problems.

Don’t forget to continue with the Reading Challenge between now and 18th June as well as completing the 50:50 Book Challenge in the library! Pupils have been highly engaged in the challenge so far so keep it up and complete the challenge!
