Half term break begins next week. School will be closed from Monday, October 19th to Friday, October 23rd. Have a happy and safe break!

Thank you to all those who attended the camp information evening on Wednesday. If you were unable to attend you should have received the A4 brown envelope containing information and permission slips. Please return these along with the payment straight after the half term break.

Transdisciplinary Theme: Where we are in place and time

Central Idea: Migration can have an impact on people and society.

Lines of Inquiry:

  • Migration throughout history.
  • The reasons why people migrate.
  • The challenges, risks and opportunities of migration.

Our rotations will begin to further their inquiry through Dance, Drama, Music, Art, English and Personal Inquiry. We look forward to seeing where the children take their learning.

Number Math:

Mr Pheasant: Solving real life word problems involving addition and subtraction of decimal numbers.

Miss Younie: Continue to solve addition problems including decimals in the form of money and measurement.

Mrs Pickering : We will be looking at ways to model addition and subtraction and how to solve word problems by applying mental strategies.

Mrs Angell: Model addition and subtraction of decimal fractions up to hundredths

Year 5 will begin to look at Poetry in more depth and start to think about diary entries linked to our class novel.

Due to our whole school photo, there was no Golden Book assembly this past week.

As your children are now in the upper school, they are expected to be completing 30-45 minutes of homework each night. This will be made up of: approx 15-20 minutes reading with an adult, 10-15 spelling work, and their weekly assigned task.

This week’s homework:

The children have already experienced using Google Tour Builder to explore their teachers’ migration stories. For this week’s homework they must use Google Tour Builder to show a migration story. This may be the migration story of themselves, a family member, domestic helper or friend. Please note that to complete this homework you must have Google Earth installed on your computer/laptop, when you log in to the Google Tour Builder website you will be prompted if needed. The children should log in with their school Google accounts and then share their tour with their class teacher.

Please note that the last swimming lesson will be on Thursday, October 29th

Remember to wear PE kits on Wednesday for Dance.

Please ask the children to check through their stationery kits to see if anything needs to be replenished or replaced.
