End of Year 6 Graduation – More details will be sent to you in the next few weeks but in the meantime, please give some thought to what your child will wear. It is an important event in the children’s school life and therefore we expect them to be dressed in smart/special event clothing for the ceremony. The dress code for the past few years has been…..

  • suits for boys (or at the very least a dress shirt and trousers and tie), or traditional dress, dress shoes
  • semi-formal party dresses for girls (or a pant-suit), or traditional dress, dress shoes
  • no denim or shorts or flip flops

I have found some examples on the internet to help you out!

Father/son, mother/daughter night – Thanks to all of the parents and children that came along to the talk. We are sure you found it beneficial and we loved how much everyone was talking about the big changes they are going to go through in the coming years.

High School Visits – All of the children had a great time at their high schools. It is fantastic to see the children so excited about the new journey they are about to embark on.

Strand Maths – Space and Shape

Central Idea – Geometric tools and methods can be used to solve problems relating to shape and space.

Number Maths – Computation

Central Idea – Strategies for whole number computation can apply to fractional and decimal computation.

Throughout this production unit of inquiry we will be working on these above Maths concepts and also on consolidating work done throughout this year.

StoryOfMyLifeWe have been thinking about and planning for our Autobiographies. The children are imagining themselves grown old, looking back on their lives and all their experiences. They will then write about these as if  they had happened. It is very interesting to hear what the children think they will do, what they will become and how they will live. Please do take the opportunity to ask them about this too. You might be surprised!

More transdisciplinary English learning as we continue looking at the ‘Once on this Island’ play scripts in more detail. Some students have begun writing their own scripts or re-writing parts of ‘Once on this Island’ too. Meanwhile, others have been writing diary entries as if they were someone working in the theatre or in film.

Spelling : Specific investigation tasks set by your teacher.

Reading : Children need to ensure they are reading at home each night for at least 20 mins and to write one weekly reflection about their reading in their diaries. Parents are not required to write a comment or to sign the book. However, continued interest and involvement in your child’s reading would be appreciated and will assist in their development.

UOI – Please make sure you can now memorise large parts, if not all of the ‘Once on this Island’ play script.

        – Also, please remember to submit a design for the ‘Once on this Island’ programme cover to your teacher as soon as possible if you would like the chance of your design being chosen! Miss Fearn has nice drawing paper if you would like to use that, but you can submit your entry using any medium. No larger than A3 though, please!

Number Maths :

  • All Number Maths Groups : Mathletics.

Thought of the Week :
