Graduating with Class logo, transparent backgroundThis will be the last Weekly Update of the year and the Year 6 team would like to thank you all for your support throughout this year and in the previous years at BHS.  Each and every one of the children has grown immensely and matured admirably over the year and we wish them well for their secondary schools and future endeavours.  Goodbye and good luck to all!

Monday 20th June – end of year reports go live for parents on The Gateway

End of Year 6 Graduation –  Please give some thought to what your child will wear. It is an important event in the children’s school life and therefore we expect them to be dressed in smart/special event clothing for the ceremony. The dress code for the past few years has been…..

  • suits for boys (or at the very least a dress shirt and trousers and tie), or traditional dress, dress shoes
  • semi-formal party dresses for girls (or a pant-suit), or traditional dress, dress shoes
  • no denim or shorts or flip flops

I have found some examples on the internet to help you out!

We have worked really hard again this week on the Production and the show is coming along nicely.  We’ve tried out make-up, hair styles and costumes and they are all looking great.  Many thanks to Maadhav’s mom, Jaya Chand, who has been in helping Mrs J and Miss Viola with the costumes.

Below are some photos from this week and last week.

This week some Year 6 students were chosen to help out Ms Chung and Year 2 make presents and food and drinks for the Parent Helper Afternoon Tea.  Thanks so much to Maadhav and Sze Ching from 6F, Manika and Jade from 6L and Charlotte and Jodie from 6H for all your hard work.  They reported the difficulties of working with such a young crowd….hmmmm, interesting!

StoryOfMyLifeWe have been thinking about and planning for our Autobiographies. The children are imagining themselves grown old, looking back on their lives and all their experiences. They will then write about these as if  they had happened. It is very interesting to hear what the children think they will do, what they will become and how they will live. Please do take the opportunity to ask them about this too. You might be surprised!

More transdisciplinary English learning as we continue looking at the ‘Once on this Island’ play scripts in more detail. Some students have begun writing their own scripts or re-writing parts of ‘Once on this Island’ too. Meanwhile, others have been writing diary entries as if they were someone working in the theatre or in film.

Spelling : Specific investigation tasks set by your teacher.

Reading : Children need to ensure they are reading at home each night for at least 20 mins and to write one weekly reflection about their reading in their diaries. Parents are not required to write a comment or to sign the book. However, continued interest and involvement in your child’s reading would be appreciated and will assist in their development.

UOI – Please make sure you can now memorise large parts, if not all of the ‘Once on this Island’ play script

Number Maths :

  • All Number Maths Groups : Mathletics.
