Dear Parents,

The current school year has come to an end. The beginning of the year seems like just yesterday, yet there have been so many memorable events the have taken place during the year. This week saw the Year 6’s finish their time at BHS with a fabulous production of Bugsy Malone, followed on Thursday with their Graduation. The children have been amazing throughout the entire year and have really stepped up, demonstrating their readiness to move on from BHS. I would like to wish all of you Year 6 students all the very best for the exciting times ahead.

More photos of the production can be found HERE. More photos of the graduation can be found HERE.

The end of a school year always means some students in other year groups and some adults leave. I would like to say ‘thank you’ to the following members of staff who are leaving BHS…

Educational Assistants:

  • Donna Fuchsluger, who is relocating to Singapore
  • Edwin Lee who is moving on to new challenges in Hong Kong

Teachers:

  • Luisa Andrew who has been with us covering 2A since February. Luisa has secured a permanent position at RCHK
  • Rosie Fletcher who has been with BHS on-and-off since 2011. She will be moving with her family back to the UK sometime in the coming months.

Of course, with leavers means we welcome new staff.

Teachers:

  • Matt Glencross who will be teaching 3G
  • James Whyman who will be teaching 4W
  • Samantha Saxena who has been working with us on a temporary basis this year will be with BHS on a permanent basis from August

…and a big welcome back to Marie Claire Mulligan who returns from extended maternity leave.

Educational Assistants:

  • Iriz York joining 1W
  • Julie Fecteau joining 2F
  • Grace Yan joining Year 5
  • Maggie Mason who will be supporting the SEN department in the upper school

I know you will give them a warm welcome in August.

This has been a very busy year as usual but with the additional excitement of the 50th anniversary. I would like to say a special thank you to Abigail Ng for her winning 50th anniversary logo design which we have been using for the past 12 months.

Student Achievement Beyond School

Dev (2K) and Diven (2A) participated in DSA Basketball Champions Cup in the group 2 category and their team came first and received gold medals. Congratulations to them!

Thank you for all the incredible support shown to me and BHS as a whole. Have a lovely summer break – wherever you may travel, please travel safely and enjoy the holidays. Ms Chung is looking forward to welcoming everyone back in the new school year.

As another school year draws to a close we wish to thank everyone who supported the PTA and helped raise an amazing $260,000 for the school.

This could not have happened without you, the students, parents, senior management team, teachers, education assistants, staff and caretakers, who have all taken part in some way over the past year.  These funds will go towards sponsorship of Mathletics licence, Xmas, Easter & CNY celebrations and improvements in the playground & school.
