Oct 10 – ESF Football Tournament

On Saturday 10th October the boys and girls football teams participated in the their first tournament of the year, the ESF Ed Services football tournament. Both teams were very successful with the girls winning the cup competition for the first time and the boys winning the plate competition. This is the first time we have won two trophies at the same tournament. Thanks to the parents and teachers who came down to support us and a big thank you to Miss Cheung for helping coach the girls team.
Girls
The girls started very strongly with a great three nil win over Kowloon Junior with Mia scoring a hat-trick. Our second game was a lot tougher and we managed to win one nil with Aayesha scoring a great game. Our last group game was against the Peak School and we fought hard for a nil all draw. This meant we won our group and were into the semi finals.
The semi final was very close against Kennedy and it went down to sudden death penalties. Mia scored her one and Kennedy missed. So we were into the big final, the cup final, where we had to play Discovery College. Discovery College scored early on in the final and we then we staged a great comeback with all the team putting in a lot of effort and Natalee scored 2 goals to help us win 2-1! Well done to all the players! Mia and Tammy were chosen as players of the tournament.
Boys
The boys team had a tough pool group and despite losing all three of their group games they had played very well. Our first game was a close 1 nil loss to RCHK. Our second was against the eventual cup winners Kennedy and we lost 3  nil. The final group game was against Discovery College 2 and in another close game we lost 2 nil. This meant we were in the plate quarter finals. The team had been playing well and we knew results would start going our way.
Our quarter final against Quarry Bay was another close game and even though we had our chances we didn’t manage to score so it went down to sudden death penalties and Jotaro scored his and Kwan Yin made a great save. Our semi was the local derby against Kowloon Junior and it was another nail biter! Beacon Hill managed to win one nil after great work from Praise who supplied the final pass to Jotaro who scored the winner.
The final was against Discovery College B who had beaten us in the group stage. This was another close one and it also went down to penalties. This time it was the best of 3  and we managed to win 2-1 with Jovan scoring the winning penalty and Kwan Yin making great saves in goal. Well done to all the players! Jotaro and Praise were chosen as players of the tournament.
