PE Monthly Update #6

 Unit 4- Adventure Challenge
 The focus with adventure challenge is to work on team work skills. We have played games that have required cooperation and communication skills. We will continue to look at these skills in the next two sessions with an added emphasis on problem solving.
 Unit 4 PMP
 During our PMP sessions we are focussing on balancing, memory skills, throwing and catching, hand eye coordination and body manipulation. These are all fundamental skills needed by young children. Hopefully today during the student led conference you were able to see the kinds of activities that we have and the equipment we use in our PMP sessions.
Unit 4 Invasion Games -rugby

The year twos have been focussing on rugby skills in their PE lessons. They have been taught how to pass, tackle and score tries. They will start using these skills in small sided games in the next sessions.

 Unit 4 Movement Composition – Gymnastics

The Year Threes have been looking at how to make their gymnastics sequences varied and aesthetic on various apparatus. They will look at how to add transitions to their sequences in the next sessions.

Unit 4 Striking and Fielding

With their class teachers the focus has been on striking and fielding. They have been learning the game of rounders and have been linking the game to their class unit on forces.

Unit  4 movement composition – gymnastics

In their gymnastics lessons they have been using their bodies to create structures either individually or with a partner/group. They have been linking their gymnastics unit to their class unit on structures.

Unit 4 games – rugby

With their class teachers the focus has been on the game of rugby. They have focussed on learning the skills of rugby and will use them in small sided games.

Unit 4 Adventure Challenge

The Year Fives have been playing adventure challenge games with an emphasis on team work. They have played games where they have had to think outside the box and to also do a lot of trial and error. The lessons have been linked to their ‘Big Business’ Unit.

Unit 4 Games

With their class teachers they have been playing and analysing various games. They have started to look at creating their own games and will eventually then test them out on their Year 1 buddy classes.

Unit 4 Striking and Fielding

This unit has covered the cricket skills of bowling, batting and fielding. They will start to use these skills in modified games of cricket. There will be an opportunity to join the cricket club in term three (more information about the club will be sent home soon).

Unit 4 – individual pursuits – athletics

During this unit they have been learning the skills needed for athletics events. They will participate in a few of these real athletics events at the Years 3-6 Sports Day.

Well done to Charlie (4L). Her dance group, Avon Lee International Magic, participated in the annual Chinese New Year Parade and Charlie danced in front of thousands of spectators!
