The stations this year focussed on game skills, body management, locomotion, object control, fitness and motor skills (fine and gross). For the last weeks of FMS the Year Twos were in charge of deciding what stations we would use based on the stations they have enjoyed the most over their two years of participating in the programme.

Invasion Games – Hockey

The Year 3s have been looking at invasion games by playing modified hockey games. The games have also focussed on team work and the importance of roles (goalkeeper, defender and attacker) when playing a game.

Movement Composition – Dance

With their class teachers this unit has focussed on dance. They have learnt the importance of moving in time with music. They have copied and created their own dance moves with an emphasis on rhythm.

Health Related Fitness

For Unit 6 the Year Fours have been looking at health and fitness. They have researched various exercises and look at the benefits on doing these exercises. They then created their own personal fitness circuit based on these exercises. They also looked at the positive and negative impact that technology can have on their own health and fitness.

Individual Pursuits – Swimming

The Year Four swimming programme has been disrupted by the unfortunate weather we have had the last few weeks. 4A and 4W had their first lesson this week where the focus was on stroke development and confidence in the water.

Health Related Fitness

During this six week unit the focus has been on ways of improving their health and fitness and especially their stamina. They devised their own circuit to work on various fitness components. The first lesson of this unit was a Beep test where they recorded a score. The aim is to have improved and beat their first score when they do their final Beep test.

Individual Pursuits – Swimming

The Year Five swimming programme has thankfully not been disrupted by the unfortunate weather we have had the last few weeks. The Year 5s have had three lessons and for their remaining session the focus will be on stroke development and improvement when performing the four basic strokes.

Invasion Games – Various Sports

The Year Sixes have been playing sports for their last unit. These sports have been sports and games that they played throughout their Six Years at Beacon Hill. It has been a chance to remind them of the rules and how to work on tactics and team work. They have also had the opportunity to referee and umpire matches.

Movement Composition – Dance
