Hi Year 3. While we are off school it would be great if we could, firstly, get a few more completed TinkerCAD cars handed in if you have the opportunity. Here is a quick video tutorial reminding you how to load up your tinkerCAD project and how to hand it in using Google Classroom. I will get them all 3D printed ready for when we return to school after Chinese New Year.

If you have already handed in your car then you could have a look at this forces related activity to create a roller coaster track:

Year 3 PE Home Learning – Movement Composition Gymnastics

Create a 30 second movement sequence which involves the following: Different levels, different directions, use of hands and a static balance (not moving). Please be safe when creating it and you will need a wide space so try to do it in a playground, sports hall or your lounge (if enough space). Practise the sequence and make it as aesthetic as possible. Record your best performance and email it to me timothy.teahan@bhs.edu.hk

Games – Striking and fielding

This will need to be practised in a playground with enough space. Take a ball and something to strike a ball with (cricket bat, tennis racquet, etc.) and practise hitting a ball. Try hitting a bouncing ball, rolling ball and a ball being thrown to you (from a sibling, helper, aunty, uncle, friend, grandparent). When you are striking the ball I want you to think about your classes unit on Forces. What happens if you use more force/less force? Why does the ball stop? How does gravity help/hinder me?

Rounders

Warm – Think of some stretches you can do to warm up your arms and legs and get your heart rate going.

Practise throwing and catching a ball outside with a partner or on your own in the air. Making sure you are making a cup with your hands.

Challenge: throw the ball up in the air and clap as many times as you can before catching it.

Leading on from our recent work on “Painting with Sounds”, see if you can find some musical stories. Listen to them closely and have a think about what ideas the composer is using to describe characters or events in the story. Is the instrument important? Does the speed play an important part? What about the volume? Does it stay the same or are some parts louder or softer.

Write down your ideas on a piece of paper so that we can share them after Chinese New Year.
