BHS Lunchtime Experiences: A message from our Student Council

At BHS we have lots of great clubs which our students really enjoy so Ms Chung challenged us to create even more!  As the student councillors we interviewed our friends and classmates to find out their favourite clubs. We were wondering if any parents would like to help run these clubs?  Do not panic! You do not need to be an expert or world champion, just enthusiastic and willing to help. This could be as an one off session or more, it is up to you. Please click on this google form to volunteer.  The Student Council will then get in contact with you to organise the club.  We will help with all the logistics such as venue, students and resources.

Thank you for any help you can give us.

Once again we have hit the ground running in year 3 with many exciting activities both in and outside of the class room. It was lovely to see the students energised and refreshed after their Christmas break and raring to go for the new term ahead.
We also had our first excursion of the year during which we spent a wonderful day out at Tai O and Tung Chung. Where the children throughly enjoyed their investigation into different types of housing.

Homes Around the World (and their materials) Powerpoint

Homes have been influenced by a variety of factors over time.

We will be inquiring into:

    • What a home is (form)

  • Why homes have changed over time (causation)
  • How homes in (the local environment) Hong Kong have changed over time (change)

Next week we will continue our inquiries into homes around the world and continue to have conversations about the different homes we can find in Hong Kong. We will also be visiting Mei Ho House which is a preserved example of the first public housing provided by the government in Hong Kong.

We will also be investigating the different materials that homes are built from and be conducting science experiments into the form and function of these materials.

Central Idea: Multiplication and Division are related and are used to solve problems

Lines of Inquiry

    • The roles of symbols and the language of multiplication  and division

    • Mental and written strategies for multiplication and division

  • The relationship between multiplication and division

Next week the children will practise their multiplication skills in a variety of open-ended tasks. We will also be looking at the inverse connection between multiplication and division, before moving on to a measurement inquiry focusing on time.

Please encourage your child to practice their times tables.
