BHS Lunchtime Experiences

At BHS we have lots of great clubs which our students really enjoy so Ms Chung challenged us to create even more!   As the student councillors we interviewed our friends and classmates to find out their favourite clubs. We were wondering if any parents would like to help run these clubs?  Do not panic! You do not need to be an expert or world champion, just enthusiastic and willing to help. This could be as an one off session or more, it is up to you. Please click on this google form to volunteer.  The Student Council will then get in contact with you to organise the club.  We will help with all the logistics such as venue, students and resources.

Thank you for any help you can give us.

Lines of Inquiry

An inquiry into…

  • Different types of livings things (Form)

  • Human responsibility to the survival of living things (Responsibility)

Next week we will be continuing the unit by researching an animal of their choice, presenting their findings and then comparing with other animals.

Central Idea
By analysing patterns and identifying rules for patterns it is possible to make predictions.

An inquiry into:

  1. Rules of patterns and how these predict future terms.
  2. Equivalent number sentences using addition and subtraction
  3. Patterns and relationships in multiplication and division

Next week the students will start looking at their new unit of pattern and function where they will be inquiring into rules of patterns and how to predict future terms.

Writing focus: Writing to inform
To present information about something, generally describing an entire class of thing, whether natural or man-made.
For the first 2-3 weeks of this unit we will be looking at words at sentence level. We will look at how we construct sentences and thinking about how the parts of a sentence work together. We feel that this will give the children a better grasp of grammar and punctuation and enable them to write impressive sentences for the information reports they will produce later on.
Comprehension Strategies
Determining Importance
Next week we will be starting our new text type writing to inform. We will also be looking at our new reading comprehension strategy of determining importance.

There was no Golden Book assembly this week as a result of the BHS CPD Day.
