Dear Parents, Family and Friends,

IMPORTANT DATES

This week our BHS family has been celebrating Chinese New Year. Years 1 and 2 enjoyed dim sum and a trip to the flower market. The chamber and community choirs sang magnificently at the ESF Chinese New Year performance held at RCHK yesterday. Photos from yesterday can be found HERE. Last night and this afternoon many of our children took part in our own Chinese New Year show and this morning, the whole school had fun with arts and cultural activities in mixed age groups. Photos from today can be found HERE. I hope you are able to spend time with family and friends during this holiday and I wish you all a happy year of the rooster.

ESF Primary Schools’ Choral Concert

Tickets for the bi-annual ESF Primary Schools’ Choral Concert will be on sale through URBTIX outlets from 31st January. The concert will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium at 7pm on Friday, 17th March and will involve the choirs from all of the ESF primary schools. This is an especially exciting concert as it is part of the ESF 50th Anniversary celebrations. Our Chamber Choir will be participating in this concert. This is a popular concert which sells out quickly so please ‘get in early’ if you would like to attend.

Green Team

Have you ever thought that there is just too much plastic packaging around the food in our supermarket? So much fruit and vegetables are sold in plastic boxes, plastic bags, or on plastic trays with cling film. There is now a petition online hoping to stop this. When it collects 100,000 signatures it will be sent to the supermarkets, Wellcome, ParknShop and City Super, who will have to send a reply to each of the people who signed it. If you would like to help, please sign this petition and pass this on, the link is: https://www.change.org/p/wellcome-parknshop-citysuper-stop-wrapping-our-produce-in-plastic-100-000-signatures-needed?source_location=minibar

Also, if you have any tins or other leftover containers that you want to recycle over the CNY holidays, please send them to school and we will make sure the items are sent to the recycling bins. Please continue to talk about and aiming for zero waste at home this holiday.

Lastly, if you and your family manage to get out into nature this Chinese New Year holiday, please send me a photo. Likewise if you or your child are involved in some recycling at home, are looking after a plant or even a few plants , are saving energy by turning off electrical equipment or lights or are involved in another green activity please send me a photo. I look forward to seeing them and sharing them with the school. No act is too small.

I wish everyone a wonderful Chinese New Year holiday and prosperous year of the rooster.
