Music Monthly Update #9

Students are exploring timbre in music and examining the ways composers use musical elements to create different effects and tell stories through music.

Students will be increasing their repertoire of songs and using tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments to accompany performances.

We will also be examining the way we can notate musical ideas such as pitch and rhythm.

Students are continuing to explore musical accompaniments.

Using classroom instruments Year 3 are composing short pieces exploring the timbres of the different instruments  as well as their voices.

Students are continuing to learn new music and songs on the ukulele.

They are also developing their technique and their repertoire of chords.

Their ukuleles will need to be returned in the next few weeks.

Drawing on their knowledge of musical conventions that composers use, such as major minor tonality, sequences, drones and ornamentation, the students are devising their own compositions.

Having finished their PYP Exhibition, students are rehearsing music and songs from Ali Baba that will be performed on Wednesday 28th June at 7pm in the school hall.

Year 6 Production

Rehearsals are underway for Ali Baba, a musical that is loosely based around the traditional story of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Lots of opportunities for students to act, sing and dance!
