Dear Parents,

I hope you were able to enjoy some time together as families during the long-weekend last week. Although we have only had three days of school this week, they have been super-busy, with two year groups visiting the theatre, another year group visiting the HK Philharmonic Orchestra and it was our Book Fest. It was great to see so many different costumes today – well done to everyone for taking part in all the activities and having fun. Thanks and well done to our Battle of the Books Team who took part in the semifinals, hosted by us on Wednesday. They came a very close second to Marymount School, who were last year’s overall champions. Thanks to Ms Heywood for organising the event and to Mrs Judge, Mr Pheasant, Ms Dewhurst and Ms Chung for their assistance as judges. Thank you to Ms Jeves, Mrs Lowe, Ms Fennelly and Ms Heywood for organising all the events for the Book Fest. For more photos of Book Fest, click HERE.

Battle of the Books Semi-Final

This week BHS hosted one the group Semi-Finals for the Hong Kong Battle of the Books Competition. Beacon Hill competed against five other teams from across Hong Kong and put in an amazing performance to come a respectable second place.

The competition invites the children to read twenty books by respected authors and then the children are expected to answer questions about the titles they have read. In preparation for the competition the children have worked incredibly hard over the past six months and put their heart and soul into the competition on Wednesday. I would like to say big well done to all the members of the team and the children who attended the lunchtime club.

The new book list for Battle of the Books 2017 will be announced shortly and the BHS Battle of the Books club will start again in September.
