PE Monthly Update #5

 Adventure Challenge

The Year Ones are currently doing a unit on Adventure Challenge. The focus of the Adventure Challenge is on working as a team and the importance of helping your team rather than focusing on the individual.  They looked at how communication helps their team and the importance of roles in team work.

PMP

During their PMP sessions they have just started skipping. Please take the time and practise skipping at home with them. Thanks.

Individual Pursuits – Athletics

The Year Twos have been inquiring into how we run, jump and throw. They have investigated the best way to run fast and the best way to throw an object a long way. They will use these skills learnt in various games over the coming weeks.

Individual Pursuits -tennis

The Year 3s are currently learning tennis and so far have focused on forehand and backhand skills. In the next few weeks the focus will be on using the skills learnt in modified tennis games.

Health and Fitness

With their class teachers they have been exploring health and fitness and how it relates to the body systems.

Individual Pursuits – Badminton
The Year Fours have been introduced to the sport of badminton. They have been taught the basic badminton strokes and are currently using them in game situations.

Adventure Challenge

With their class teachers they are looking at adventure challenge. The focus has been on team work and on looking at different solutions to problems.

Team Games – Rounders

The Year 5s have been learning a modified version of rounders and have been taught the skills of pitching, batting and fielding. They will use these skills in modified rounders games.

Adventure Challenge

With their class teachers they have been linking adventure skills to their ‘Big Business’ class unit. They have looked at being creative and how to think outside the box.

Individual Pursuits – Athletics

The Year 6s have focused on the competitive side of athletics. They have competed in a number of modified athletic events with the aim to do the best they can and try to improve themselves. Those that have performed well may be chosen to compete in the school athletics team.

Team Games – football

With their class teachers they have been improving their football skills and are using them in game situations.
