Box of Hope is an annual charity project aimed at providing useful/educational gifts to underprivileged children in Hong Kong & Asia donated by Hong Kong school children and local organisations.
You fill old shoe boxes with new, interesting and educational gifts at home and return to school.
The boxes are then collected and delivered directly to the children in need.
Some of these children have never received a gift!
BHS COMMUNITY CHOIR
Last January we held the inaugural meeting of the BHS Community Choir and went on to perform at the International Food Fair, the Chinese New Year show and the Summer Music Concert. The choir will re-form this year, starting on Thursday October 20th at 7pm. Everyone is welcome – no experience necessary! New and existing members are very welcome. All children need a hat for break, lunch times and PE lessons. Please ensure they are clearly labelled. NO HAT, NO PLAY!
Please remember that we have a no nut policy at BHS due to some children having severe allergies. This includes peanut butter sandwiches and nuts in cookies or cakes.
The children absolutely loved listening to author, Jacqueline Harvey when she visited BHS last Wednesday. It was a joy to listen to their laughter and witness their excited faces when she told them about her own experience of being a student. Let’s hope she has inspired the Year 3 children to develop a love for writing. Who knows, in years to come we could have a few best selling authors in our midst!
Scientists learn about forces and motion through scientific process
Next week the children will continue to learn about the different types of forces through science investigations and begin to prepare for their summative task. If your child has any science investigations they would like to share, we would very much welcome this idea.
The lines of inquiry are:
- Types of forces (form)
- Forces affect the motion of objects (function/connection)
- Scientific process (function)
- How we use addition and subtraction to solve problems.
- The strategies we use for addition and subtraction.
- The relationship between addition and subtraction.
- Odd and Even numbers.
New tasks have been set in relation to Addition and Subtraction. Please encourage your child to log on and complete tasks as part of their home learning.
Next week the children will continue to explore the comprehension key of inferring.
The children will also look at similes and metaphors within poetry.
Due to school photographs there was no Golden Book this week.
