It has been the last full week before the Christmas break and as usual it is a busy one.  Each class had their Christmas parties on Wednesday which culminated with the whole year group getting together to play Christmas themed games in the hall.  We wish you all a safe and wonderful Holiday break and look forward to the start of 2017 with you.

Mrs McKinnon would like to thank you all for being such wonderful, support and caring partners in your children’s education.  Mrs Craig will be in 5M after the holidays and we wish her well.

Central Idea:

People’s actions can impact our water resources

Lines of Inquiry:

How water changes (change)

Responsibilities regarding water (responsibility)

Distribution, availability of, and access to, usable water (connection)

Building on from the work covered this week the children will be investigating filtration and will be challenged with filtering/cleaning dirty water.  The children will be encouraged to make links between the natural filtration of water in the water cycle and man made ways to clean water.

Our reading focus will be on synthesising information from different texts and also how to successfully combine new and existing knowledge in an effective way. Children will be building knowledge of the purpose and function of non chronological reports and all the different forms they can come in.
