Dear Parents, Family and Friends,

Important Dates

25-11

This week our camp season concluded with our Year 5s spending 4 days and 3 nights at Lei Yue Mun. The first couple of days were hampered with rain but the teachers adapted the plans and by all accounts the children were amazing. I really want to say thank you to the teachers and educational assistants who took part in this and the other camps. They are incredibly tiring events, but we value the opportunities the students have.

I have been on annual recruitment at ESF Centre for most of this week, so unfortunately I missed 2G’s class assembly. I have been informed by Mr Thompson that it was fabulous with all of the children enjoying the opportunity to share their learning with their parents and the whole school. Well done to them and the teachers who supported them.

Achievement Beyond School

Chantal Chan (6F) participated in a gymnastics competition in Singapore last weekend. She was placed 6th in ‘Beam’ and 6th in ‘Vault’ for her WAG 3 level and helped her Team win 3rd place, under Sportscene Gymnastics Club at the recent 24th Prime Gymnastics 2016 Invitational. This is a wonderful achievement and a great experience to be part of a sports team in an overseas event. Well done to Chantal.

House Captains’ Action

Last week the House Captains met with me to discuss their initial ideas to make their houses ‘the best they can be’. We agreed on two initial events to get this going :

  1. Dress In Your House Colour Day –  Friday 9th December. Each child should come to school dressed in the colours of their house

  2. Design a mascot competition.

The Captains shared these at Monday’s assembly. We are looking forward to the mascot designs and for the children to see each other in their respective houses on the 9th.

International Food Fair – We Need Your Support

Our fabulous PTA is currently asking for prize donations for our International Food Fair Prize Draw. If you or any of your contacts are able to provide a prize, please contact Janley, our PTA Coordinator – pta@bhs.edu.hk Thank you in advance!

Best wishes,

ndnn

Boys Football

20161122_130642Once again our boys were a credit to our school. They played with great skill and passion and were the runners up in the Bowl Competition. We found our first few games quite challenging but as the tournament progressed we got stronger and stronger. In the Bowl Final we drew 1 all in normal time which meant the game would be decided on penalties. Unfortunately we lost 6 penalties to 5 penalties. We have two more tournaments to play and if the team continues to play well we should have a chance of winning more silverware.

Mr Thompson

Junior Netball League

Our Junior Netball League played against ESF Central on Saturday 19th November. A huge well done to the players who were able to attend this match because we only had 5 players to begin with! Even though we were a smaller team, the players displayed excellent determination and held possession of the ball the majority of the first half and scored 5 goals! For the second half we had six payers and the team continued to play brilliantly, finishing off with a 5-1 win! Amazing effort to our team this week and thank you to all the parents & Ms Chung for coming to cheer and support.

Ms Younie and Ms Andrews

 Calling all gymnasts!

If you are a gymnast and know that you will be competing in next year’s HKSSF competition can you pleas email me as soon as possible so that the school can enter a team in next year’s competition. In previous years we have had individual competitors and this year we would like to also enter the teams competition. I would also need a volunteer parent to be the liaison between the school and the organisers.

Thanks,

Mr Teahan
