Important Information:

Please make sure you have emailed your child’s class teacher to confirm donation of the $200 start-up money.

This year we are encouraging a more creative approach to book character costumes. It is a great opportunity to work with your child to come up with something original and not just store bought / ready to go. There will also be prizes given to  a few selected winners in each year group.

Firstly a huge well done to 5Y for a great class assembly. You all presented confidently and clearly enjoyed the experience. It was wonderful to see you all feeling so proud of what you have achieved.

We have all taken part in an aspect of the Year 6 Action Week, learning about current issues and helping to raise awareness. We look forward to seeing the work in full on Exhibition Day.

Transdisciplinary Theme: How the world works

Central Idea: Energy exists in different forms and is generated and used in different ways.

Lines of Inquiry:

  • Transformation and transference of energy
  • Renewable and non-renewable energy
  • The ways in which we conserve energy

Our Key Concepts are:

Function (how does it work)? How do we use energy? How can energy be generated/harnessed?

Connection (how is it connected to other things)? How does our energy use impact us/our world?

Our focus will shift to applying the scientific investigation model as we take part in experiments across all three class. We will look to gain a deeper understanding of electricity, nuclear energy and kinetic / potential energy.
