Please complete the e-notice you have received on Gateway about our visit to the LEAP Centre on 7th September.

All children need a school hat and water bottle every day. Please ensure they are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

The children enjoyed engaging in inquiry activities concerning the 5 elements of a healthy lifestyle. Such activities included art work, group discussion and sorting.

In Maths, the children’s knowledge of place value has been developing. They have constructed 3 digit numbers using the Diennes equipment. Please complete the home learning Mathletic activities which have been set.

The focus in our explicit writing lessons has been to use capital letters and full stops correctly.

Thank you for reading with your child everyday, enabling them to change their reading books on a daily basis. In class we have been looking at story settings and characters.

All children need to wear their PE kit on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Your child will need to bring their red book bag to school on Tuesday when they will visit the library. Children without a book bag will not be allowed to take books home.

Central idea: Lifestyle choices can affect human health and well-being

Lines of inquiry:

  1. What it means to have a balanced lifestyle
  2. The choices we make affect our health
  3. Lifestyle changes

The children will be exploring different ways to relax, including partaking in cosmic yoga and completing Zen Doodles.

The children will also discuss a balanced diet and how to make healthy food choices. The will design a healthy meal.

CENTRAL IDEA: We represent numbers and number relationships using the place value system

LINES OF INQUIRY:

  • Ways to present numbers
  • How we count numbers
  • The Base ten place value system
  • Odd and even numbers (pattern and function)

The children will use a variety of equipment to apply place value to partition and rename three digit numbers. They will practise skip counting in 2s, 5s and 10s starting from zero.

We will continue to look at characters and settings in a story and will identify key events that take place.
Every child will be assessed on their reading within the next few weeks.
 Well done to:

House Colours Assembly – Friday 1st September
As I mentioned in last week’s Newsletter, we are aiming to develop the BHS House system this year. The first part of this involves Year 6 students who have a desire to be their House Team Captains presenting to the school in next Friday’s assembly. To make this a special event and to begin to develop a sense of belonging to the four houses, we would like all students to come dressed in their house colour next Friday 1st October. Any T-shirt, shirt etc of their house colour will be suitable – plain coloured shirts preferable, and not football shirts or similar.
