Welcome back to BHS to everyone for this 2017-18 academic year!  Each week we one of us from the Year 6 team will publish all our important Year 6 information, events, dates and notices on this platform so as to keep you fully informed of all the happenings in our year band.  Mr Hoskins, Mr Hubbard or Miss Younie will take turns each week to update you and we will do our best to include lots of photos so your can really see the great work that your child is doing. Usually, we just include photos from our own particular classes each week to ensure coverage of all children throughout the year. May we please ask that you check the Weekly Update each week…the new one is uploaded each Friday afternoon.
School Uniform – most our Year 6s have been looking pretty good this week and have made a real effort to wear the correct school uniform and PE kit to school.  May we please asks that this continues and that they are being uniform conscientious right down to their purple socks on normal days and white socks on PE days. School bags should also be BHS backpacks and not anything different.
Deodorant
As the children are growing and changing their bodies will begin to sweat, especially in these hot summer months. Please provide your children with deodorant and remind them to keep clean and hygienic.
What a great start to the year!  The children were so excited when we collected them from the playground on Wednesday morning and classrooms were buzzing with enthusiasm and a little nervousness as well.  This week we have had talks, reminders and visits from Mr Pheasant and Mr Harrison. All the kids listened really well and took on board the changes and were excited to hear about some of the potential roles and responsibilities that will become available as the year progresses.
Some of the classes in Year 6 enjoyed playing the cup stacking game! The students had to stack 6 cups, as a team, but they were not allowed to touch the cup with their hands.

This week the children have been planning and starting to write their own recounts of the summer holiday. It is so exciting to hear about all of the amazing places that our children have visited over the summer – we really are global citizens!

We were also lucky enough to visit the library and enjoy some time to find a comfortable place and read books for enjoyment. ‘
