School photo orders need to be in as soon as possible so that we can submit the necessary forms to TechniPhoto. The orders need to be in before 30.11.16. Online ordering is also possible – please see the information in this week’s Newsletter.

Number Maths

Central Idea – Operations

Due to LEAP and House Captain Meetings this week we only had one number maths session. During this lesson we continued with our problem-solving approach to operations this week.  In providing these open-ended tasks we can ensure that the children are being challenged and enriched and it gives us the opportunity to work with individuals and groups in our class who may need clarification on certain aspects or the concepts and outcomes.  Some of the solutions to these problems that the children are coming up with are really creative and it shows their ‘outside-the-box’ thinking.conducting-internal-investigations_mini

Comprehension Key – Summarising and Synthesising : Our synthesis lessons continued this week….
Synthesising with The Three Pigs! This week in English children have been synthesising. We have been demonstrating how viewing information from a different perspective can change your thinking. The children have been using their prior knowledge and new information to find commonalities from different sources.

Some of us learnt about the boxing leader and legend Muhammad Ali. We found out different information from a video and a text and then synthesised the information to draw our own conclusions.

Thought of the Week  :

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own, and you know what you know. And you are the guy who’ll decide where to go. – Dr Seuss
